One line in WorldFood Istanbul’s own exhibitor rules decides more about a food stand than any design choice: it is forbidden to release smoke, steam, dust, gas or liquid into the hall, even for demonstration purposes. If your plan involved a hot plate, a steamer or a grill on the stand, it needs rethinking before the first drawing — not on the setup day.
WorldFood Istanbul’s 34th edition runs 15–18 December 2026 at Istanbul Expo Center (İFM), Yeşilköy. This page is written for exhibitors looking for a WorldFood Istanbul stand builder: what a food stand can and cannot do here, meeting capacity, the approval route, and prices.

Two changes to note if you exhibited here before. The venue moved: editions through 2025 were at Tüyap in Büyükçekmece, and from the 2026 edition the fair is at Istanbul Expo Center in Yeşilköy. And the slot moved: WorldFood ran in early September for years and is now in mid-December. Copy that says “every September” is out of date, and so is a stand designed to the old venue’s hall plan.
A practical consequence of the December date: if you are reading this in late 2026, you are inside the normal 10–12 week lead time for a custom stand. Tell us where you are and we will say honestly which stand types still fit rather than promise a date we cannot hold.
What you may actually do on the stand
WorldFood publishes a list of stand activities and requires each of them to be approved in advance: chef workshops, demo shows, product presentations, talks, simulations, prize draws, press meet-ups and influencer sessions. Equipment and technical material for any of these is the exhibitor’s responsibility, and stand noise is capped at 80 dB.
Set against that, the prohibition on smoke, steam, dust, gas and liquid is absolute and covers demonstrations. In practice that rules out open cooking, steaming and anything that vents. It does not rule out a professionally designed presentation counter, a chilled display, plated product, or a chef working with prepared components. The distinction is whether the process emits — and that is the question to settle with the organiser before you design, not after.
Two further points the fair does not publish, which means you must get them from your own exhibitor documentation rather than from any stand builder’s website:
- Water supply and drainage on the stand. No public rule exists. If your display needs a sink or a drain, the position dictates the counter location and therefore the whole layout — so confirm availability and the ordering deadline early, and design afterwards.
- Refrigeration and cold chain. Nothing is published about chilled or frozen display, exhibitor cold storage, or power provision for it. Confirm with the organiser in writing, especially if your product cannot sit at hall temperature for four days.
We will put both questions to the organiser with your product list if you want them settled before the design starts. It is a short email and it saves a redesign.
A stand built around 900 buyers, not 78,000 visitors
The visitor number is impressive and it is not what you design for. The business here is the hosted buyer programme — more than 900 buyers from 100 countries at the 2025 edition, with 38,000 B2B meetings recorded the year before. Those are appointments, held sitting down, often with an interpreter.
| Stand size | Simultaneous meetings | Layout |
|---|---|---|
| 9–12 m² | 1 | Product display and one table; a second buyer waits standing |
| 16–24 m² | 2 | Display wall, two tables, chilled or ambient presentation counter |
| 30–40 m² | 3 | Display zone, open tables and a screened corner for price talk |
| 50 m²+ | 4 or more | Enclosed meeting room, presentation counter, sample and stock storage |
Two details that matter more at a food fair than elsewhere. First, storage: samples, packaging mock-ups, chilled stock and personal bags accumulate fast, and a food stand that looks cluttered reads as an unserious supplier. Build it in under the counters. Second, lighting: food photographed and food displayed need the same high colour rendering, or your product looks grey next to its own pack shot.
With over a quarter of visitors coming from abroad and the largest buyer block from the Middle East, English signage is the minimum and Arabic is worth considering. We produce multilingual print as part of the build.
Approval and the venue’s limits
If you have booked raw space, the design is reviewed before construction and you must name your stand constructor. Deadlines differ by fair — Automechanika Istanbul’s published terms require drawings two months ahead and state that unapproved designs cannot be built in the fairground. WorldFood’s technical services and deadlines sit behind the exhibitor portal, which opens to you after your contract is signed. Ask for access immediately.
Istanbul Expo Center’s own figures apply to every stand in the halls: height capped at 5.8 m, floor load 2,250 kg/m², and a structural check for any stand 4 m or over and for all two-storey stands. Water, drainage and compressed air at this venue are ordered through the authorised contractor with requests submitted at least two weeks before move-in — which is why the water question has to be answered early.
Bringing food into Turkey
Display equipment and fixtures you will take home again normally travel under an ATA carnet as temporary admission. Food and drink samples are a different matter entirely: they are consumed or given away, so they are outside the carnet and need a full export declaration — and food, in particular, can carry category-specific import documentation, health certification and labelling requirements depending on what it is. Confirm your categories with your freight forwarder in writing well before shipping. Product held at the border during a four-day fair cannot be recovered.

Our band for a custom stand is 400 – 750 EUR per m², quoted as a fixed price in EUR against an approved design, so the figure you receive is the figure you pay. Island stands add 10–20%; double-decker structures add 40–60%, including the structural report and the longer installation.
Send your hall and stand number, size, number of open sides, how many simultaneous meetings you need and whether your display needs chilling or water, and you get a 3D design and a fixed quotation.

Frequently asked questions
When is WorldFood Istanbul 2026?
15–18 December 2026 at Istanbul Expo Center (İFM), Yeşilköy, Istanbul — the 34th edition. Note that both the venue and the month changed: the fair was at Tüyap in early September through the 2025 edition.
Can I cook on my stand?
Not in a way that emits. The fair’s own rules forbid releasing smoke, steam, dust, gas or liquid into the hall, including for demonstrations. Chef workshops and demo shows are permitted formats but require approval in advance, so agree exactly what you intend to do with the organiser before the design is drawn.
Can I have chilled or frozen display?
The fair publishes no rule either way, so this has to be confirmed with the organiser in writing along with the power provision for it. Ask early — if your product cannot sit at hall temperature for four days, the answer changes your whole display concept.
Can I have a sink and running water?
Water, drainage and compressed air are ordered at this venue through the authorised contractor, with requests at least two weeks before move-in. Settle this before the layout is frozen — the drain position determines where a counter can go.
How big a stand do I need?
Count your hosted-buyer appointments, not your square metres. Two simultaneous meetings fit in 16–24 m²; three need 30–40 m². A larger stand with one table does less business than a smaller stand with three.
Creostand is an exhibition stand builder in Istanbul: we design, manufacture in our own workshop in Esenyurt — about 35 minutes from Istanbul Expo Center — and install on site. For other fairs and dates, see our Istanbul exhibition calendar.
