Home textiles are bought with the hand and the eye at the same time. A buyer at Hometex pulls a curtain to see how it falls, rubs an upholstery fabric between two fingers, turns a towel over to check the loop. A stand that keeps the fabric behind glass, or lights it so the colour shifts, loses the one advantage a fair has over a catalogue.

The 2026 buying delegations came from, among others, the USA, France, Italy, India, the Netherlands, Russia, Spain and the Turkic republics. A stand usually has to serve two kinds of buyer at once: the retail buyer looking for a finished look, and the importer checking the depth of the collection and the price per metre.
Showing fabric the way buyers judge it
- Let it hang full length. Curtain fabric is judged by its drape, which a folded swatch cannot show. Ceiling-height tracks with full-width panels, set far enough apart to pull, do more selling than any graphic.
- Make the bed. Bedding sells as a set. A made bed, lit like a bedroom, lets a buyer see the duvet cover, sheet and cushions together — and gives the stand a focal point from the aisle.
- Swing-arm racks for upholstery. Buyers want to flick through forty colourways quickly. Swing panels or hanging bars at hand height beat a wall of framed samples.
- Daylight-balanced light. Hall lighting skews colour, and a buyer who orders a beige that arrives grey does not come back. Neutral, high-quality light over every sample area, and no coloured mood lighting where fabric is judged.
- A swatch library at the meeting table. The order is written at the table, so the full colour cards and price lists live there, not on the display.
The holiday before the fair
Kurban Bayramı falls on 16–19 May 2027, the week before Hometex. Workshops, printers and hauliers in Turkey stop for the holiday, and some take the days around it as well. In practice that means everything for the stand must be manufactured, printed and pre-assembled before the holiday starts, with only the working days between the end of the holiday and the opening on 25 May left for transport and installation. We plan Hometex stands to be finished in the workshop by mid-May for exactly this reason.
Approval and the venue’s limits
Hometex used all eleven halls of Istanbul Expo Center in 2026, so check which hall your space is in. Halls 1–10 allow stands up to 5.8 m; Hall 11 has a 4.3 m ceiling and a 3.8 m booth height, which rules out full-height curtain walls of the usual kind. Floors are rated at 2,250 kg/m², and the venue requires a structural check for stands of 4 m and over and for any second storey — a tall curtain wall can cross that line on its own.
Power, water and compressed air are supplied only through the venue’s authorised contractor, with requests at least two weeks before move-in. Raw-space stands are named to the organiser and their design is approved before building; your exhibitor documentation gives the deadline.
Collections and customs
A collection that goes home after the fair can travel under an ATA carnet. Swatch books and samples you hand out, and any pieces you sell from the stand, cannot, and need a full export declaration. Pack the giveaway material separately from the display collection so the two can be cleared differently.

Our band for a custom stand is 400 – 750 EUR per m², quoted as a fixed price in EUR against an approved design. Island stands add 10–20%; double-decker structures add 40–60%, including the structural report and the longer installation.

Why does the holiday matter for my stand?
Kurban Bayramı runs 16–19 May 2027, the week before the fair, and Turkish workshops and transport stop for it. The stand has to be finished before the holiday, which moves your design approval earlier than the calendar suggests.
How high can a curtain wall be?
Up to 5.8 m in Halls 1–10 and 3.8 m in Hall 11. Anything from 4 m needs the venue’s structural check, so we often keep curtain walls just under that unless the design needs the height.
Can buyers find their way from the airport?
In 2026 the organiser ran shuttles between the fair and Istanbul Airport, Sabiha Gökçen, Taksim, the Yeşilyurt Marmaray station and Laleli, with return shuttles leaving from Hall 1. Check the 2027 programme before you send invitations.
